About Forest Lake, MN

A 1920 certified proof of U.S. currency, issued by First National Bank of Forest Lake, depicting William McKinley and Hugh McCulloch, is part of the collection at the National Museum of American History of the Smithsonian Institution. A poem, "To The Aurora Borealis", written by Indian yogi and guru Paramahansa Yogananda while visiting Forest Lake in 1927, appears in the book Songs of the Soul. Peter L. Jensen, inventor of the loudspeaker and founder of the Magnavox Company, was married at Faith Lutheran Church in Forest Lake in 1929.
